What is Transcend?
Transcend is a single Holosync® soundtrack from Centerpointe Research Institute, created as the companion track to the Igniting Inspiration Suite. Where the four main tracks of that suite — Fathom, Inspire, Reflect, and Energize — help you access depth, creativity, contemplation, and energy, Transcend adds a fifth state: the state in which you rise above old limits, patterns, and identities that no longer serve you.
It is the track to reach for when you sense that something in you is ready to grow beyond where it has been. Designed by Marc Gilson as part of the Igniting Inspiration collection, Transcend is a complete 30-minute experience meant to be used alongside the four main tracks whenever you are ready to move beyond your current boundaries.
How brainwave entrainment works
Brainwave entrainment is the principle that the brain tends to align its own dominant electrical rhythm with a steady rhythm it is given. This is called the frequency-following response. When the brain is presented with a consistent target frequency, its activity gradually shifts toward that frequency — which is how a recording can guide you into a specific state of mind.
Binaural beats are the mechanism that delivers this stimulus. A slightly different tone is played into each ear, and the brain perceives the difference between the two as a single pulsing “beat” that exists in neither ear alone, then begins to follow that beat frequency. Because the effect depends on each ear receiving its own separate tone, stereo headphones or earbuds are required. The music and ambient sound can be enjoyed on speakers, but the neurological benefit of Holosync only occurs with stereo separation, so Transcend must be heard through headphones or earbuds.
What makes Transcend different from regular binaural beats?
Search for binaural beats and you will find an endless supply of commodity options: free YouTube tracks, meditation apps, and ambient playlists advertising brainwave entrainment. Almost all of them are one-off loops, built to hold a single frequency with no larger design behind them.
Transcend is different because it was engineered as a deliberate fifth state to complete an existing architecture. It is not a standalone mood track but the piece that extends the Igniting Inspiration collection past its four core states, targeting a specific higher-order experience — transcendence, the felt sense of rising above old constraints — that the four main tracks are designed to lead toward. Its frequency design carries that intention: rather than parking you in one state, Transcend holds you in a creative-threshold theta state and then gently lifts you toward alert alpha clarity, so the session itself enacts a rising-above rather than a settling-in. That combination of a defined target state, a directional theta-to-alpha profile, and Lateral Carrier Boost 2.0 is a level of engineering a generic looped tone does not attempt.
That precision comes from long experience. Centerpointe has been engineering and refining Holosync since 1989 — more than 35 years of iteration against real listener feedback and physiological response, rather than a frequency chart pulled off the internet. The practical implication is simple: if you already use the Igniting Inspiration tracks, Transcend gives you a purpose-built next step for the moments when you are ready to grow, rather than another interchangeable relaxation loop.
The fifth state: where the fire takes you
The Igniting Inspiration Suite is organized around four states that spell a single word — FIRE: Fathom, Inspire, Reflect, and Energize. Those four are about rekindling your inner fire. Transcend is about where that fire takes you. It is, in the collection’s own framing, the track the other four lead to.
Your fire tends to dim for a reason: old patterns, old stories, and old self-definitions that once fit and no longer do. Depth, creativity, contemplation, and energy help you feel alive again, but transcendence is the state in which you actually loosen your grip on what has been holding you in place. Transcend is built for that work — for the periods of real change when you sense you are ready to become more than you have been. These soundtracks are offered as therapeutic and educational support for general wellbeing; they are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, and individual results and experiences vary.
Inside the Transcend session
Transcend is a single 30-minute Holosync soundtrack. Its brainwave journey begins in theta at 5.5 Hz — the threshold “Goldilocks” state that Holosync associates with creativity and openness to change — and holds you there before a gentle upramp lifts you toward alpha at 10 Hz near the end. That upward finish is deliberate: you emerge wakeful, clear, and centered rather than drowsy, which suits a track meant to help you rise above rather than sink down.
The session carries a moderate-to-strong neural-driving effect, meaning it delivers a substantial stimulus to the nervous system, and it includes Lateral Carrier Boost 2.0 for enhanced hemispheric communication. As with all Holosync sessions, no two feel exactly alike — some will feel deep and eventful, others quiet — and both are doing their work. Let your nervous system respond however it needs to in the moment.
The technologies inside Transcend
Holosync® is Centerpointe’s core brainwave-entrainment technology, refined continuously since 1989, and it forms the foundation of the Transcend session. Some listeners occasionally notice a faint hum or buzz during a session — that sound is Holosync itself, and whether or not you can hear it has no effect on how well it works. Listen at a comfortably low volume; louder is not better.
Lateral Carrier Boost 2.0 was developed by the Centerpointe Audio Design Team to enhance entrainment by subtly boosting the amplitude of the Holosync carrier frequencies in each channel independently and sequentially across the session. It is designed to increase synchronous neuro-electrical activity between the two cerebral hemispheres, supporting more connectivity, coherence, and whole-brain thinking, and making it easier to reach a flow state. Transcend does not use Autofonix or Lucid State Induction.
How to use Transcend
Transcend is designed to be used flexibly, as a fifth state you visit when the moment calls for it. It can be used at any time of day, though many listeners find morning or early-evening sessions most effective; keep it out of the hours right before bed if its energy tends to leave you alert. A reasonable rhythm for most people is two to three sessions per week. Some prefer to use it less often, reserving it for moments of particular significance, while others reach for it more frequently during active periods of change — trust your own sense of when to press play.
Choose a quiet, comfortable place where you will not be interrupted, sit or lie down with your eyes closed, and keep your breathing natural. Use stereo headphones or earbuds, and never listen while driving, cycling, or doing anything that requires your full attention. Transcend works well alongside the four main Igniting Inspiration tracks, The Holosync Solution program, and an existing meditation practice — simply give it its own time in your week.
As with the rest of the Igniting Inspiration Suite, give yourself a few minutes after each session before returning to demanding activity; the brain benefits from a brief transition, especially after a track with a stronger neural-driving effect. Because Transcend is about moving beyond old limits, this quiet window afterward is often where the real shift registers — many listeners find that insights and a clearer sense of direction arrive in the minutes following a session rather than during it, which makes journaling a natural companion habit. There is nothing you need to force. Let the state settle, notice what surfaces, and carry it into your day.
Who this is for and what to expect
Transcend is for anyone who already values the Igniting Inspiration states and wants a dedicated tool for growth — and especially for people in a season of change who can feel that an old limit, pattern, or identity is ready to fall away. It rewards patience: some benefits arrive immediately, while others develop gradually over weeks of consistent use.
Expect variety from session to session, and do not judge a session by how dramatic it feels in the moment. In line with the rest of the Igniting Inspiration Suite, Holosync is considered safe, but because these soundtracks are potent, they are not recommended for young children, and anyone managing a serious emotional or mental health condition should consult a doctor or therapist first. Transcend is therapeutic and educational support, not a substitute for professional care.
