What is Integration?
Integration is a companion soundtrack to The Four Wounds suite from Centerpointe Research Institute, the company behind Holosync meditation audio. The four wound tracks — Shame, Fear, Anger, and Abandonment — each do deep, targeted work on one wound. Integration is the track you reach for afterward, to help those separate pieces of work settle into a coherent, whole sense of self.
It is deliberately not a fifth wound. As its designer, Marc Gilson, puts it, healing does not happen in isolated compartments — you do not heal your shame in one box and your fear in another. At some point everything you have worked through needs a chance to come together. Integration is designed to give your nervous system that chance.
How brainwave entrainment works
Brainwave entrainment relies on the frequency-following response: when the brain is exposed to a steady rhythmic stimulus, its own electrical activity tends to drift toward and synchronize with that rhythm. Holosync uses binaural beats to create the effect. A slightly different tone is delivered to each ear, and the brain perceives the difference between them as a single pulsing beat at a target frequency it can gently settle into.
Because the effect depends on each ear receiving its own separate tone, stereo headphones or earbuds are required. Played through a speaker, the two tones blend in the air before they reach you and the entrainment is lost, even though the music or nature sound still plays pleasantly. The alpha range that Integration settles into is associated with relaxed clarity and whole-brain coherence.
What makes Integration different from regular binaural beats?
Search for meditation audio and you will find an endless supply of free YouTube tracks, apps, and ambient playlists advertising brainwave entrainment. Most are a single tone loop offered as general-purpose calm — and even within a healing program, a “closing” track is often just another version of the same thing.
Integration is built on a specific idea: consolidation is its own kind of work, and it is the opposite of the deep, targeted work the wound tracks do. Where each of the four wound sessions descends into a low, intense state to meet one wound directly, Integration deliberately does not descend. It settles quickly into a sustained, gentle alpha hold and stays there, holding your nervous system in a steady, integrative space so the healing from the other tracks can actually take root. The four wounds rarely exist in isolation — they layer and interact in ways unique to your own history, shame feeding fear, anger standing guard over abandonment — and once you have met them one at a time, those pieces need somewhere to come back together. That reassembly is what Integration is for. It is designed to be used after the wound work, not instead of it, and its whole job is to help separate pieces become one whole person. That is a different function from any single wound track, and from a generic calming loop that simply runs.
That design sits on top of technology Centerpointe has engineered and refined since 1989 — more than 35 years of iterating Holosync against listener feedback and physiological response. In practical terms, Integration is the track that turns “doing the work” into “letting the work become part of you” — the difference between healing your wounds in separate compartments and carrying a single, coherent sense of self.
Inside the Integration session
Integration is a single 30-minute session with a moderate neural-driving effect — gentler than the four wound tracks. It opens in low beta (12 Hz) for about two minutes, then descends over roughly four minutes into alpha (9 Hz), where it holds steadily for the rest of the session. Rather than taking you down into deep, targeted territory, it keeps you in that relaxed, coherent alpha space where integration happens.
The session is anchored to a 228 Hz carrier frequency, includes Lateral Carrier Boost 2.0 during the sustained alpha hold, and carries silent Autofonix affirmations focused on wholeness, coherence, and the felt sense that all parts of you belong together. Alpha is the range most associated with relaxed clarity and whole-brain coherence, which is why it suits consolidation rather than excavation — the work here is settling, not digging. Because it is gentler than the wound tracks, it also works on days when deeper wound work would feel like too much.
The technologies inside Integration
Holosync is Centerpointe’s binaural-beat entrainment technology, refined since 1989. It guides the brain into Integration’s sustained alpha state.
Lateral Carrier Boost 2.0 subtly boosts the amplitude of the Holosync carrier frequency in each channel to increase synchronized activity between the two hemispheres, for more whole-brain coherence. In Integration it activates during the sustained alpha hold — the phase where the consolidation actually happens.
Autofonix is Centerpointe’s proprietary encoding that renders affirmations effectively silent to the conscious mind while remaining perceptible to the subconscious. Integration’s affirmation set centers on wholeness and coherence, and a full written transcript is included.
How to use it
Integration is best used after you have spent meaningful time with at least two or three of the four wound tracks, once some real emotional processing has already happened. It is not meant to replace the individual wound work, but to consolidate it. A common rhythm is once a week, or at natural points where several pieces of your inner work feel ready to come together — as a closing practice after focused work on one wound, or as a regular check-in with the whole system.
Because it is gentler than the other tracks, Integration also works well as a shorter, ongoing daily practice for support without the intensity of a full wound session. Listen seated or lying down, eyes closed, in a quiet space, at a comfortably low volume. Never listen while driving or doing anything that needs your full attention.
Who this is for, delivery, and policies
Integration is for people already working with The Four Wounds who want to help that work settle into lasting change. Like the rest of the suite, it is a tool for supporting emotional healing, not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care, and not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition; results vary. If you are working with significant trauma or an active mental-health condition, use it alongside professional support. It is not recommended for children under 13.
Integration is delivered as digital MP3 audio you can download and keep, and includes two versions: a soothing musical mix and a bonus “Lush Rainforest” naturescape version — two files in all. Any standard stereo headphones or earbuds will work; stereo separation is essential for the Holosync effect. Integration is $29.99. Per Centerpointe’s terms, digital purchases are final and non-refundable. Support is available Monday through Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm Pacific, at 503-672-7117 or support@centerpointe.com.
